1900 Diapered, Footed tray

Baltimore Sterling Silver Co.

This tray has a heavy floral repoussé border round a finely cross-hatched base with a floral encircled cartouche containing a very decorative scrolling monogram. The tray is supported by 4 very nice ball-and-claw feet. An inscription on the back reads April 16 1900.  B.S.S.Co., a Crown with a B, 925/Sterling/1000, and #120. Dimensions: 12" diameter.  Weight is 24 Troy oz.  Ten years later, the 1910 catalog does not contain a #120 tray.

Pair of Candlesticks

Pair of 8.5 inch Candle Sticks. Base is 3.75 inches wide

Marked THE STIEFF COMPANY, not the usual STIEFF

Detail of base and top

In the 1910 catalog, these are #155

BSSCO Covered Dish

A similar piece is in the 1910 catalog as #80A

Note the use of the 1 on the lower right photo.  I am wondering if prior to the use of the 1 in a circle, if the 1 was used.  Crown B mark on right photo.

Details of the hand chasing on this beautiful piece.

at the top. An example of the punch is on the second page of this section.

1916 Stieff  #1100 Punch Bowl on Stand

Simply Spectacular

12" High, 18" Diameter of Rim, 9-1/8" Diameter of Base, 6-1/2" Depth of Bowl, Stand 21" Diameter, 2-1/2" High, 11-1/2" Diameter of Etched (Diapered) Bottom.

Marked on the bottom of both pieces #1100, Stieff, Sterling & #16 encircled for the 1916 year mark. The Rose punch bowl and stand have chased roses.  The stand doubles as a wonderful plateau.  The punch bowl holds approximately 2 gallons.

An oddity here which I can not explain. The #1100 in the 1910 catalog was a Tea set and not a punch bowl. In the 1920 Catalog this punch bowl would be #269, but it is not shown in the 1910 catalog.

Same spectacular hand chasing as above, two years earlier

In the  1910 Stieff Catalog, this is how SALAD FORKS appeared. Later in the teen’s the forks would develop into the shape we know today. These are in the Chrysanthemum pattern which ended by 1919.

These are sometimes confused as ramekin or ice cream forks.

The curved points on the outside tines are very sharp.

From my personal collection

This is a PAP Spoon for feeding babies in the Chrysanthemum pattern. It is not marked Stieff or BSSCO, but was made by the company.

This spoon pre-dates the 1910 catalog and nor does it appear in the list of available items for 1910.
